      Co-Director

My name is Debbie Harper and I am the co-director at TCC.

I grew up in Pennsylvania, and I have also lived in South Carolina, Virginia, and California before moving to Austin in 2000. I consider Austin my home now, and I cannot imagine living anywhere else. I have a son named Brady and a daughter named Kira that both attend Bowie High School. Go Bulldogs! I have been teaching at Tarrytown Children’s Center (the best preschool in Austin, Texas) since 2010 and have spent time teaching in every classroom working with children from 6 months to five years of age. For the past six years, I taught transitional kindergarten. This year, I am excited to begin a new journey at TCC as co-director.  I am truly passionate about early childhood education and embrace the concept of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) based learning that focuses on play. I believe that an optimal learning experience requires a collaborative effort between parent, child, and teacher.

My goal as director is to ensure that TCC provides a creative, supportive, and enriching learning environment for all children so that they can develop, learn, and reach their full potential.

      Cathy Eckhoff

      Music Teacher

My name is Cathy Eckhoff and I teach Music.

I was born in Dallas, TX. I am one of six children. My family moved to Austin when I was six years old. Strangely enough, I hated school and ran away from 1st grade for about a week! I graduated from High School and College here in Austin. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 36 years! We have three beautiful children: Christen, Collin and Cason. I also have two adorable dogs!

I have been teaching off and on since 1984. I graduated with a Child Development Degree, knowing teaching was my “true calling”. I’ve worked in various private religious schools and Head Start Programs. I worked at TCC from 1990-1994. I took a break from teaching to raise our three children and returned once again for the last thirteen years.  I was raised attending Tarrytown Church and was a member for many years. My parents are still members of the church today!

I have been a lead teacher in the Two-Year-Old, Three-Year-Old, and Pre K Classes. I am currently the music teacher for the school.   It’s always been my steadfast belief that learning is done best and internalized most when it’s fun, and as the music teacher that is easy to accomplish!
